Editorial Policy

SleepyClock publishes sleep calculators, guides, and reference pages. This page explains how those pages are written, reviewed, and updated — so you can judge for yourself whether to trust them.

Who writes the content

Every word on this site is written by the same person — a software developer based in Nanchang, China. See the About page for background.

We do not outsource content to freelancers, agencies, or AI-only services.

How we use AI

We use large language models for two narrow tasks:

  1. Rephrasing drafts. When a draft is awkward or repetitive, an AI model is used to suggest alternative phrasings. The final wording is chosen and edited by the human author.
  2. Proofreading. AI is used as a grammar and spelling pass. The author reviews every suggestion.

We do not use AI to:

  • Generate medical or scientific claims without source verification.
  • Produce full articles from a prompt.
  • Replace the author on any factual question.

Every health-related sentence on this site has been (a) written or verified by the author and (b) cross-checked against the sources listed in the relevant page's "References" section.

What "evidence-based" means here

When we make a recommendation — for example, "adults need 7–9 hours of sleep" — we cite the source at the bottom of the page. Sources are usually:

  • Peer-reviewed sleep research (e.g. Sleep, Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine).
  • Government or institutional bodies (e.g. CDC, NHS, AASM guidelines).
  • Authoritative reference works.

We do not cite blog posts, unsourced listicles, affiliate sites disguised as health authorities, or studies whose results have been widely disputed in subsequent literature.

Conflicts of interest

SleepyClock is funded only by Google AdSense ads. We do not:

  • Accept guest posts in exchange for payment.
  • Run sponsored reviews of sleep products.
  • Link to a product because an affiliate program pays us.

If a product is mentioned on a page (e.g. a magnesium glycinate recommendation), the link is informational only. No commission is earned.

Corrections policy

If you believe something on this site is wrong — factually inaccurate, outdated, or misleading — please email hello@sleepyclock.top with the page URL and the specific claim.

We aim to:

  • Acknowledge every correction request within 7 days.
  • Update the page within 14 days if the correction is valid.
  • Add a short note at the bottom of the page describing what was changed.
